FOOD AND FIGURES is a personal project of Martin Kristiansen. It is a project inspired and driven by two different but intersecting themes; Our body shapes and the food we eat.
What we eat, how we view our bodies, what we regard as attractive and desirable and what we find appetizing is driven by cultural and economic factors. Increasingly the twin issues of obesity and anorexia provide us with an additional layer of complexity. In addition popular media holds up very unrealistic and narrow role models for us to emulate. The heart of the ‘Food and Figures’ project is an attempt to explore the interactions between the above two themes.
